There are some things I believe the government should keep their paws out of, but in regards to legally defining for the purpose of labeling, I believe this will be good for the consumer. The FDA is looking at whether food products containing ingredients produced using genetic engineering or foods containing high fructose corn syrup may be labeled as “natural.” The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service and Food Safety and Inspection Service will also examine the use of the term “natural” in meat, poultry, and egg products, and are considering areas for coordination between FDA and USDA. Why is this being looked at, because consumer groups have petitioned that foods that come from ingredients using pesticides, added hormones or artificially enhanced grown, the final product should not be able to use the word “Natural”.

Be heard on the matter — the FDA would like to know your point of view.
