The authors were tasked with the burden of roaming the countryside to search out their best shops in the USA. There are thousands of shops in america besides ice cream, including gelato, frozen yogurt, frozen custard plus vegan to name a few, so how does one decide on the Best.
At the end of the day It boils down to individual preference, plain and simple. Sure in some cases there is all natural vs artificial, high butterfat vs low, more air (over run) vs very little, organic vs non and on and on. These are probably pretty good shops, but are they really the best, probably not and more importantly, is there or does there need to be the best. I say no. Favs tend to be based on factors besides quality, such as product and flavor familiarity, location, business age, customer raves, family memories, business roots in the community, etc.
It’s all good and more times than not, it can be a very passionate topic. Ask any “normal, well balanced person” what’s the best place to go for a great frozen delight and be prepared for the response. It will not simply be a here or there reply, but one with explanation, conviction, reason and probably hands flying around. To you it may not have answered the question, but it is sure entertaining to watch the response. When you think about it, there are not that many topics people bring up that provoke such passion. Support your particular shop and give the owner your own raving review and way this place is your favorite. You will make them smile.
